Japanese Head Spa in Dunn, North Carolina
A Japanese head spa is a deep cleanse and treatment of the scalp, done lying down with warm flowing water, followed by a proper massage of the scalp, neck and shoulders. It takes between 60 and 120 minutes. People book it for their hair and leave talking about how they slept — which tells you most of what you need to know.
If you have never had one
What Actually Happens in a Head Spa?
It is not a wash and blow-dry with nicer towels, and it is not a haircut. It is its own thing.
Your scalp gets looked at first
Dryness, oiliness, build-up and flaking all want different products. Starting with what your scalp is actually doing is the difference between a treatment and a nice wash.
A deep cleanse, then warm water therapy
You lie back and warm water runs continuously over your scalp — the part everyone tries to describe afterwards and cannot. Build-up from product, hard water and oil comes away properly rather than partially.
Treatment, then a long massage
A mask or serum chosen for your scalp, and then scalp, neck and shoulders worked properly. Not the thirty seconds at a salon basin. This is the part that sends people to sleep.
You leave with your hair dried and styled. You do not go back out into the car park with wet hair, which is a question we get more than any other.

Questions We Get Asked Most
What is a Japanese head spa?
A deep cleanse and treatment of the scalp, done lying down with warm water flowing continuously over your head, followed by a proper massage of the scalp, neck and shoulders. It is a treatment for the skin your hair grows out of, not a haircut and not a salon wash.
How long does a head spa take?
Between 60 and 120 minutes depending on what you book. The 60-minute Deluxe is a full treatment, the 90-minute adds extended massage, and the 120-minute includes a facial.
Do I leave with wet hair?
No. Drying and styling are included at the end, and we do not rush that part. This is the single most common question we get.
Should I wash my hair before a head spa?
No — come with your hair as it normally is. Whatever is on your scalp is what we want to assess and treat.
Does a head spa help hair growth?
It cleanses the scalp properly, removes build-up and increases circulation, which supports a healthier environment for hair. It is not a treatment for hair loss. If thinning is your concern, that is a medical conversation and we have a separate service for it.
Can I have a head spa with colour-treated hair, extensions or locs?
Yes to all of them. Tell us when you book so we can plan the products and the approach around what your hair actually is.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, $75 to $100 depending on the service, and it comes off the price on the day. Head spa rooms are booked one at a time, so an empty slot cannot be filled at short notice.
Can two of us come together?
Yes. The Ultimate Head Spa Journey for Two is 70 minutes side by side, and it is the one people book for mothers and daughters, friends and couples.
